Job Description :
Electrical Engineer, Staff, Facilities and Construction, will have two main roles. One role will be working on electrical design/construction projects for new or renovated facilities in India, either as an in-house designer on selective projects (working with an internal design team) or as a reviewer on designs created by outside design firms under contract to Qualcomm. This role will include preparing electrical project requirements and scopes and monitoring outside design consultants adherence to those requirements. The second role will be to work with Qualcomm India facilities staff to plan for and implement improvements to electrical systems at Qualcomm buildings in India, including in such areas as power quality analysis, electrical troubleshooting, control and monitoring systems and sustainable design initiatives. Candidate shall be part of a multi-discipline internal design studio and will be responsible for the electrical engineering to the entire team; the candidate shall provide electrical expertise and input required to assist the design team to proceed in the right direction. Candidate will participate in and host meetings with end users and Facilities Operators to establish programmatic requirements for new and altered spaces. Candidate shall represent the Qualcomm Real Estate and Facilities department as a prime contact for MEP projects with both internal and external customers and shall interact with all levels of management and staff. Candidate work is to be performed without considerable direction, and must exercise considerable latitude in selecting methods, objectives, and approaches to accomplish complex assignments. Candidate must routinely identify, develop and execute technical solutions to complex problems, providing solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious. May refer to precedents and policies in determining appropriate methods and techniques and in reaching solutions that are creative, thorough and practical. Candidate must have the ability to travel to other cities within the country. This position reports directly to Qualcomm Facilities Engineering Senior Manager in San Diego, California, USA. Minimum Qualification: Designs building electrical systems. Assist with the review of electrical designs submitted by contracted design firms and identify areas where the designs do not comply with the applicable electrical codes and good practices. 8+ years design experience in areas of engineering including full building electrical, lighting, power, and low voltage systems, Lighting Management systems, data centers, power plants, co-generating systems, engineering studies, sustainable design, energy audits, power quality analysis, electrical troubleshooting, commissioning of electrical systems, and engineering studies. 5+ years experience with Electrical Engineering software is required, including short circuit and protective device discrimination analysis. 5+ years experience designing and drawing in AutoCAD, performing Life Cycle Cost analysis using engineering software or Excel spreadsheets is absolutely required. 5+ years experience being a Design Project Manager for an Electrical Systems Design Firm or equivalent experience is absolutely required.
